A Challenge to Pray for Your Daughter Everyday of January 2014

As Christian parents our greatest mission on earth is to raise children to love God and His gospel in Christ Jesus. We are to present the gospel to them, and to pray for them.

Hot on the heels of the August 2013 challenge to Pray For Your Wife, came the October challenge to Pray For Your Son.

Now, starting on 1 January 2014 is the Pray For Your Daughter challenge. You can join the challenge on its Facebook page. Joining this challenge will assist you with:

• Focus – You will know what to pray for and not just repeat the same things everyday.
• Accountability – You will be held accountable by the group.
• Challenge – You will be challenged to go deeper in the way you pray for your daughter.
• Encouragement – You will be encouraged to press on, even if it seems like God’s answers aren’t coming when you want them to.

SERMON: Your prayer life says more about you than you think!

On my way to work this morning I listened to a very good sermon on prayer from Matthew 6:9-13 by Don Green from GraceLife Fellowship. This is a good reminder that our prayer lives cannot be fixed by getting up earlier, or more, or longer, but looking at what initially caused us to stray from prayer. Prayer shows our true devotion and love for Christ. Prayer is a response to the authority of Christ, not just what we want from Him based on our own sinful self-centeredness. We pray not because we are worthy of His presence, but in our sinful state we approach Him because He commanded us to. We do not deserve to be in His presence, so it is only through the shed blood of Christ that we stand before Him in prayer, and we do it because we need to, and because He commanded it.

Listen to this sermon. It is always good for us to be reminded of prayer, and to grow in our love and devotion to Christ.
